The Mile High Club. Not the airplane thing, but a rock climb up a mountain whose summit is 5280 feet above sea level (a mile high), according to the USGS. . I've been working on my #selfiegame 🙄, especially after reviews came back from my oh-so-serious, horizon-gazing image from Index last week. . Maybe party favors and beads can liven up Mr. Serious? . Jess and I took the late-shift, leaving the car at 12:30, came across a party on their way out, and had the moderate and fun route* to ourselves. . Oh, and when you run into people on the well traveled trail, let them know you're now a member of the Mile High Club. They might laugh...like the couple who'd climbed Vesper Peak's Ragged Edge and had never heard of our route. For real...one of them really thought we were referring to the airplane thing. . Projecting. In climbing, when you're developing a new route, figuring out the moves, and linking pitches, you're working on your "project." And it can be real work. . I took an afternoon off from editing to hang (no pun intended) with @mikeylikesrocks and @shanjean as they worked their project. . I followed them up their fixed lines (ropes they've hung to use to commute up and down the wall). I tried some of the pitches. As encouraging as those two are, the climbing is largely out of my league. But it was cool to see, to touch the rock. . Mikey is also a cinematographer, one of the team who worked on @freesolofilm - making him a professional rope ascender 😉-and it was cool to geek out on camera stuff. . SJ is an orthopedic surgeon and was dutifully exercising her external rotators at the belay. A reminder we should all do the same! . Coolest thing was being up on the same wall with Mikey, some 11 years since I was last there on another of his projects.. . And for you climbers, whatever Mikey rates the route, add a letter grade to it. . . .
